It's official, I'm out of shape. Monday was the first day for me to actually swim in my class. I'm taking Intermediate Swimming and it's going to be great! If you don't count the one time I went right after I got home from the Mission I haven't been swimming in almost 2 and a half years. We jumped in the pool and I did 150 yds for my warm up, we then timed a 650 yd trial and I cooled down with 200 yds. My first day swimming I jump in and do 1000 yds. Afterwards I was pretty beat. Just ask Amber and Brent, I went the their house in the afternoon to do laundry and do a little studying while I was waiting. I couldn't do it, I passed out on their living room floor, I was out. If I had a picture of me on the ground I'd post it but I don't.
Instead I get to post the things I got to improve my swimming. Fisrt, the googles. The actual name for these googles is Swedish Original Monterbara Googles with UV Eye Protection but I just call them "Sweeds" for short. Notice that what is keeping the lenses (if you call them that) together is a peice of string, I tied that string. In fact, I threaded it throungh the lenses. I placed the rubber nose protector on them. I assembled the whole thing. If you look closely at the back of the lenses you might be concerned that there are no pads on the back. I know, and it's amazing, they don't hurt. In fact they feel great. I highly recommend them. They're only $4.50.
Next come the jammers of last year's style.
I'm just noticing now that the color on my googles and the jammers is the same, shows you how much I pay attention. I didn't even choose the color on the jammers. I ordered them online and since it's last years design I just tell them the size and they send me a color at random. I think that whoever packaged my order decided to match them.
So there you have it. I'm going to rule this pool. I'm going to be a speed demon. No one shall be able to keep up with me. This is great preparation for the Triatholon that Brent, Amber and I are going to be doing next year. Don't worry, it's not going to be a full one. It's nice and small but a triatholon none the less.

Two things:
First, I want in on your triathalon.
Second, I think I'm going to challenge you to a swim when I'm home in December. Granted, I'm not going to start training until November because I usually wait until weather is colder to hit the gym. So, I'm giving you two months up on me training. But you better block in a little time for me in December for our race.
Maybe instead of the annual Christmas Morning Ab workout, we could challenge the entire family to a sprint at the pool the next day. I actually think that would be REALLY funny.
I am in for the annual pool sprint. I once swam laps...although I will need a new suit. It would be disasterous to swim laps and have the suit come down because the tie strings come apart. Embarassment.
I'd say lets do it.
