Another Win

This was posted on Thursday on the other blog that Sara has created for us. I wasn't paying attention when I was clicking around in Dashboard.

John told me that he lost one game in the middle of the day yesterday but I watched another of his games last night and they pulled off a thrilling last minute win. I saw him score a couple baskets at the beginning and a steal (or pass from the other team right to him) later on. He looked pretty good. I was talking to him after the game while we had a Jamba, he needs to be a little more aggressive on the rebounds but I really can't say much, I wasn't the most intense basketball player (unless you count my two steals I had in church ball).

Just FYI: I have a meeting with the counselors at 4 and then dinner. After dinner we are with the campers. Basketball has practice/games until 9 so we just watch. Other sports have free time we have to figure out what to do, like play games or go get ice cream.

Winning

I just watched John's team win a game at Sports Camp. They looked pretty good if I do say so myself.

Wednesday Night

15 boys, each with their own box of pizza running through the Tanner building, narrowly avoiding the security officer to slip into a classroom so that we could watch a movie on our free time at sports camp. It was awesome.

Self Control

Something I'll need to exercise while I stay in the dorms and have the option to eat at the Cannon Center.

First Day

Four kids didn't have a counselor so I took them into my group. One of those kids fractured his wrist during the field games trying to block a kick from another counselor. He spent a few hours in the ER then his dad picked him up this morning. I also helpped another kid who might have broken one of his toes. At least I wasn't bored.

Beginning Sports Camps

I haven't written because I haven't felt that anything interesting has happened well things are about to change. Last Wednesday I went the counselor retreat and today the games begin.

The retreat was at Spring Haven where we spent about 2 hours actually discussing what's going to happen at the camps the rest was spent playing games. Around midnight I was rather tired so I pulled out the inflatable mattress that I borrowed from Brent and Amber put it in the middle of the room where the piano was being played, ESPN was on and yelling and cheering could be heard through the open door where volleyball was being played. I fell asleep in a matter of minutes and the next morning not only were all the boys jealous (I was the only one to bring a mattress) but the girls were all impressed that as they all were leaving out half of the lodge to go to bed that with all the noise I could stay asleep. I can sleep through just about anything.

Let's just hope that if children are in mortal danger or are in the process of ripping a door off it's hinges that I'd wake up for that.
